i've been amazed at how long my basil from the market lasts in a vase of water. it's even sprouted some roots, but is perfectly leafy, green, and usable above water.

I'm with Faith on this one - I couldn't tell you when I last saw or used a recipe that called for salted butter. And I haven't bought any in years.

chicago only opened last week, and only a select few that are centrally located. the true neighborhood markets won't get rolling until june. you can find your local chicago-area market and its date...

coincidentally, i made my lemon-blueberry pancakes sunday morning. i use pasolivo's meyer lemon oil, fresh lemon zest and fresh blueberries. total yum fest.

i use strawberries (and blueberries and grapes) in green salads all the time. my favorite dressing to pair with such "fruit salads" is a sweet celery seed dressing (made in a jam jar, of course!).

that's the way i do it, too! i love the bonne maman jam jars for this purpose.
